About
Matthew joined SA+R in 2015 after earning his Master’s in Architecture and choosing to stay in the beautiful State of Colorado to build his career. A native of the Midwest, he had studied Urban Planning in undergraduate school and then spent two years working in Suzhou, China. Before diving into the focused work of the architecture field, Matthew also worked in the public realm as an urban planner in multiple municipalities. With this background he brings tremendous knowledge of the greater city, the interconnections of societies, and the complexities of zoning law to our client work.
Since joining our firm, his assignments have ranged from large urban planning projects, to high-rise hotels, mixed-use residential, education projects, and transit-oriented design. Some of the primary projects on which he has been a core design team player include the Colorado Academy Master Plan and the Colorado Academy Athletic Center, Alto at Westminster an affordable housing development, the River Mile Master Plan and the Pegasus Hotel in RiNo. As an AIA Colorado travel scholarship winner in 2017, he also had the chance to study passive house design in Germany, bringing a fresh perspective on global sustainable design matters back to our team.
